Empowered Indigenous women are the foundation for strong and healthy families and communities. That is why Manitoba Moon Voices Inc. (MMVI) is proud to deliver the Indigenous Skills & Employment Training program (ISET) in Manitoba. ISET helps Indigenous women and gender diverse individuals fully participate in economic opportunities by supporting education and skills training that can help them achieve economic independence.
As the provincial partner of the Native Women’s Association of Canada (NWAC), MMVI provides funding to help Indigenous women and gender diverse people reach their employment and skill training goals.
Supports can include:
- Tuition
- Living allowance
- Childcare
- Other employment supports
To be eligible, clients must be Indigenous – First Nation, Inuit & Métis – and/or gender diverse. They must be 15-years of age or older, unemployed, under-employed, or able to demonstrate risk of being unemployed.
Interested candidates for the ISET program need the following:
- Identification
- Education transcripts
- Letters of Acceptance to accredited educational institution
- Proof of Income
- Proof of Indigenous Ancestry, or willingness to sign a declaration of ancestry
- Birth certificates of any children in their care
- Nine-digit Manitoba Health number of any children in their care
MMVI may ask for additional documentation to supplement applications.
Once completed, applications will be forwarded to the MMVI Selection Committee for review. Funding is based on eligibility, assessment, approval, and availability of funds.
